Rather than clamping the case head, it grips the brass by its body taper, essentially acting like a mini chamber that holds the case perfectly square and concentric to the cutter. That design is the whole reason Wilson trimmers earned their reputation on the bench, and the case holder is the piece doing the quiet work.
This is the fired-case version, which Wilson reams slightly larger than their new-case holder so there's enough room for brass that has grown after firing. In plain terms, it's the one you want for fired cases and neck-sized brass. If you full-length size your PPC back down toward factory dimensions, Wilson also offers a dedicated new-case holder, though plenty of reloaders get by running the fired holder for everything since the body angle stays the same either way.
The PPC holder covers the family of cases built on that parent case, including 17 PPC, 20 PPC, 22 PPC, and 6mm PPC. Final fit always comes down to case diameter and length, so match it to the brass you're actually trimming. Using it is straightforward: drop the case in, tap the head on the bench to seat it against the holder's taper, then set it into the trimmer against the depth stop and crank until the shavings stop.

The fired holder is reamed slightly larger to make room for brass that has expanded after firing, so it fits fired and neck-sized cases properly. The new-case holder is sized tighter for brand new or full-length resized brass. Since the body angle is the same either way, many reloaders run just the fired holder and trim everything with it.
