There really isn't another 9mm carbine on the market that looks or functions quite like the KRISS Vector. The CRB (Carbine) is the most approachable format in the Vector lineup, built around a 16-inch 4140 chrome moly barrel finished in black nitride, and chambered in 9mm Luger. The Gen 3 update brings some genuinely meaningful refinements over previous versions, starting with a redesigned skeletonized trigger that drops pre-travel from 3mm down to just 0.7mm. The result is a crisp, clean break with a short, predictable reset that competitive shooters will appreciate.
The heart of what makes the Vector tick is the Super V Recoil Mitigation System. Instead of a traditional straight blowback, the bolt carrier travels downward into a channel in the frame, redirecting blowback energy away from the shooter rather than straight back. The barrel also sits below the fire control group, giving the Vector a lower bore axis than nearly anything else out there. In practice, that combination makes this gun exceptionally flat to shoot, with noticeably less muzzle rise than you'd expect from a 9mm carbine.
On the outside, Gen 3 brings a fully M-LOK compatible barrel shroud with mounting slots on three sides, so lights, foregrips, and other accessories mount cleanly without adapters. The rear of the receiver features a 1913 Picatinny rail for stock or brace mounting, and the pistol grip is swappable with any standard AR15/M16-pattern grip. Controls are fully ambidextrous, including a reversible magazine release designed to minimize accidental activation. Disassembly takes only four pins and zero tools.
Magazine compatibility is one of the Vector's biggest practical advantages. The 9mm CRB feeds from full-size Glock Gen 3 or newer factory magazines, which means Glock 17-pattern mags work right out of the box. KRISS also offers their MagEx2 extension kit if you want to push capacity higher. This particular model ships with one 10-round magazine and is finished in the eye-catching Arctic Delta Cerakote coating. Low-profile flip-up front and rear sights come standard, and a full-length Picatinny top rail is ready for whatever optic you prefer.
The 9mm Vector CRB is designed to work with full-size factory Glock Gen 3 or newer magazines, specifically the Glock 17-pattern body. Compact and subcompact Glock mags won't seat properly in the magwell, so stick with full-size. KRISS does not guarantee function with aftermarket magazines, though factory Glock mags are widely available and easy to find.

The charging handle was shortened and redesigned to be more ergonomic, the magazine release is now ambidextrous and repositioned to reduce accidental activation, and the barrel shroud is now a true M-LOK design with slots on three sides. Yes. The 16-inch barrel is threaded 1/2×28 RH, which is the standard thread pitch for 9mm suppressors, so most commercially available 9mm cans will thread on directly. The barrel shroud is not a suppressor, it's a cosmetic and functional housing over the barrel. You will need the appropriate tax stamp and paperwork for any suppressor purchase, but the CRB is suppressor-ready as it comes.
It absolutely has what it takes for pistol-caliber carbine competition. The 16-inch barrel, improved Gen 3 trigger, ambidextrous controls, and flat-shooting recoil system all check the right boxes. Glock magazine compatibility is a bonus for competitors who already run Glock handguns. Keep in mind the Vector runs around 7.7 pounds unloaded, which is heavier than most AR-9 style competitors, so it comes down to whether you prioritize the recoil characteristics and unique ergonomics over raw weight savings.
Arctic Delta is a KRISS-exclusive Cerakote pattern with a winter camo-inspired appearance, mixing light and neutral tones that give the Vector a distinctive tactical look on the range. Cerakote is a polymer-ceramic coating known for its resistance to corrosion, abrasion, and general wear, making it far more durable than standard blued or parkerized finishes. It holds up well with regular use and cleaning.
