The FN SCAR is a fantastic rifle, but anyone who has run one hard, especially with a suppressor bolted on, knows it can throw gas back in your face and beat the action harder than it needs to. The KNS Precision DiSCARder fixes that. It replaces the factory gas plug with a fully adjustable regulator that gives you real control over how much gas cycles the system, so you can quiet things down, smooth out the recoil impulse, and stop hammering your rifle with every shot.
This is a drop-in part with no internal moving parts, which means less to wear out and less to fuss with. Adjustments are completely toolless, using a tactile detent and laser-marked settings so you can count clicks by feel and record exactly where your rifle likes to run. With 13 unique positions on tap, you can fine-tune for suppressed shooting one minute and open it back up for a bare muzzle the next. Owners running cans like SilencerCo, Dead Air, and HuxWrx report noticeably softer recoil and cleaner cycling once they find their setting.
KNS finished the DiSCARder with nitride and nickel boron coatings, so it shrugs off corrosion and holds up to serious round counts and heat. The compact size is a real plus too, since it clears short factory barrels even with a suppressor attached. Installation takes only a minute or two, and adjusting it in the field is just as quick.
Along with the regulator, the kit includes three additional gas jet inserts in 1.5mm, 2mm, and 2.5mm sizes plus the tool to swap them. Think of the jets as your coarse adjustment and the regulator dial as your fine-tuning. That combo lets you run everything from cheap range plinking ammo to heavy match loads reliably. It fits all known SCAR models, calibers, and barrel lengths with the one exception of the SCAR 15P, and it's backed by a KNS lifetime warranty.
The DiSCARder is designed to work across all known FN SCAR models, calibers, and barrel lengths, including the 16, 17, and 20 variants. The one exception is the SCAR 15P, so it will not work on that model. If you have a standard SCAR platform, you're covered.
No tools are needed for installation or day-to-day adjustment. It drops in place of your factory gas plug in a minute or two, and you dial the 13 positions by hand using the tactile detent. The only time you'll reach for the included tool is if you decide to swap gas jets for a bigger adjustment range.
The regulator dial is your fine-tuning, letting you nudge gas flow up or down across 13 clicks. The gas jets are your coarse adjustment, with the 1.5mm, 2mm, and 2.5mm inserts changing the overall gas volume in bigger steps. Most people start with a jet that matches their setup, then fine-tune with the regulator to get cycling just right.
This is exactly where the DiSCARder shines. Suppressors add back pressure that over-gasses the SCAR, sending gas into your face and speeding up the bolt carrier. Being able to throttle gas flow means softer recoil, less blowback, and a longer service life for your rifle when shooting suppressed.
