Trap shooting means a lot of rounds through the same gun, and by the end of a long day at the line that recoil adds up. The Kick-Eez Trap Recoil Pad is made to take the sting out of it. This medium version measures 1 7/8" x 5 1/4" with a 15/16" thickness, and like every Kick-Eez pad it's built from Sorbothane, a viscoelastic polymer that redirects recoil energy out the sides of the pad instead of straight back into your shoulder.
The shape here is the whole point. This pad has a concave back and a horizontally ribbed face, both designed specifically for fixed-position trap where you're mounting the gun the same way every single time. That concave profile helps you seat into the exact same spot on your shoulder shot after shot, and the ribbing adds grip so the gun stays planted while you swing. Less rebound off the first shot also means you're back on the bird quicker for the second. The Sorbothane won't bottom out the way cheaper foam and rubber pads do, even after thousands of compressions, so it holds its feel over years of use.
This is a grind-to-fit pad with a screw-on backing and standard 3 1/8" hole spacing, so it mounts to a wide range of shotgun and rifle stocks. It comes slightly oversized on purpose. You grind it down to match your stock's exact contours for a clean, flush fit that won't slip like a slip-on pad might. There are no metal plates or hollow spots inside, which makes shaping it straightforward. Keep in mind Sorbothane isn't rubber, so it grinds a little differently. A slower sander around 1700 to 2500 RPM with 80 to 100 grit to start, then a 220 finish, gives you the cleanest edges. Kick-Eez pads are made in the USA.

Unlike foam or rubber, it won't bottom out even after thousands of compressions, so it keeps performing over years of heavy use. Kick-Eez uses a 70 durometer Sorbothane in their standard pads for a good balance of cushion and support.
This medium pad measures 1 7/8" x 5 1/4" with a 15/16" thickness. Since it adds material to the butt of your stock, it will lengthen your pull slightly compared to a thinner pad. If length of pull matters to your setup, factor that in and note that you can grind the pad down some to dial in the fit.
