Where most pads rely on a single layer of foam or rubber, this one stacks two layers of Sorbothane, a specialized polymer that reacts fast and pushes recoil energy out the sides of the pad instead of straight back into your shoulder. The first ultra-soft layer grabs the initial jolt for better follow-through and accuracy, while the second denser layer mops up whatever energy is left. The end result is a pad that noticeably tames felt recoil across everything from bird guns to big-bore rifles.
The Dual Action name comes from those two working layers of Sorbothane at different durometers. Passing the shock wave through the softer 60-durometer layer and into the firmer 70-durometer layer knocks felt recoil down a few extra percent compared to a standard single-layer Kick-Eez pad. There are no air pockets, hollow chambers, or metal inserts hiding inside, so you get solid, consistent absorption shot after shot. This Large size measures roughly 5 5/8" long by 2" wide by 15/16" thick, with hole spacing set at 3 1/8" from center to center.
This is a grind-to-fit pad, which is the key to getting that clean factory look. It ships slightly oversized so you can screw it on, scribe your line, and sand it flush to match the exact profile of your stock. Because Sorbothane is a polymer and not rubber, Kick-Eez recommends grinding with 80 to 100 grit to shape it and finishing with 220 grit, keeping the sander speed moderate rather than running a high-speed tool. Rounding the heel, toe, and sides at the end helps the gun mount smoothly into your shoulder pocket and gives it that professional finish.
