The KGM Quick Detach Flash Hider threads onto standard 1/2×28 muzzles and works as a classic birdcage flash hider when you're running the rifle bare. Slide a compatible KGM can over it and it becomes a quick detach mount that locks up the same way every time. That means one device handles your 5.56 carbine whether the suppressor is on or off, and swapping the can between rifles takes seconds instead of a trip to the workbench.
The mounting system is where this piece shines. A tapered mounting surface pulls the suppressor into consistent alignment every time you spin it on, which is what keeps your point of impact shift predictable from one mounting to the next. Backing that up is a ratcheting secondary retention system, so the can stays put through heat, vibration, and long range sessions without walking loose. Taper mounts have a well-earned reputation for repeatability, and KGM built this one to take advantage of that.
KGM machines this flash hider from heat-treated chromoly steel and coats it with an OXyN gas nitride finish. Nitride treatment hardens the surface and shrugs off carbon, heat, and corrosion better than a simple paint or bluing job, so it holds up to the abuse a muzzle device takes right at the blast face. The black finish also blends in cleanly with just about any rifle setup.
This mount pairs with KGM's R556, R556A1, R556A2, R30A1, and R30A2 suppressors. If you own one of those cans, or you have more than one rifle you want to share it across, picking up a QD flash hider for each host is the easiest way to move a single suppressor around your safe. Thread it on, torque it down, and every rifle in the rotation is ready to accept the can.
This mount is designed for KGM's own quick detach cans, specifically the R556, R556A1, R556A2, R30A1, and R30A2 suppressors. It is not a universal QD mount, so if you run a can from another brand, check that manufacturer's mounting system instead. If you own one of the compatible KGM suppressors, this is the intended host-side interface.
It threads onto any barrel with standard 1/2×28 muzzle threads, which covers the vast majority of 5.56 and .223 AR-15 barrels along with plenty of 9mm and rimfire hosts. KGM also offers this same mount in 5/8×24 for .30 caliber barrels if your rifle uses that pitch. Just confirm your barrel's thread pattern before ordering.

Yes, that is half the point of it. On its own it functions as a birdcage-style flash hider, cutting down muzzle flash just like a standard A2-pattern device would. That lets you leave it installed full time and only add the suppressor when you want to run quiet.
