Most suppressor mounts are just that, a mount. The Forward Controls Design 6310KM-L is a proper muzzle device first, with a licensed Dead Air KeyMo interface machined right into it. That means your rifle still gets real flash suppression and muzzle control when the can is in the safe, and a rock-solid attachment point when it is not. Threaded 5/8×24 for .30 caliber barrels, it pairs with Dead Air 30 cal suppressors running the KeyMo system.
The design takes the proven A2 pattern and refines it. The port shapes tip their hat to the Stoner 63 light machine gun's flash suppressor, which is where the 63 in the name comes from. The 3 and 9 o'clock ports are cut about 25 percent smaller than the three upward-facing ports, so more gas vents up and the muzzle stays flatter. Forward Controls figures that works out to roughly 20 to 25 percent better muzzle rise compensation than a standard A2, and it manages that without giving up flash suppression or adding the noise and concussion you get from dedicated brakes. There are even wire cutter alignment notches machined ahead of the side ports.
The L in 6310KM-L stands for long. At 2.7 inches, this version was designed around 13.9 inch barrels, bringing a barrel with half an inch of threading out to 16.1 inches overall. If you are running a standard length barrel, the shorter 6310KM covers that setup instead.
This one is machined from solid 4140 bar stock, heat treated, and QPQ treated for wear and corrosion resistance. It has wrench flats for an armorer's wrench or a 3/4 inch wrench, and Forward Controls specifically warns against sticking a screwdriver through the ports to torque it, since 30 ft-lbs applied that way will damage the device. Torque it properly off the flats and this American-made mount will hold zero and hold up for the long haul.
It is built for Dead Air 30 caliber suppressors that use the KeyMo mounting system. Forward Controls Design is an authorized licensee of Dead Air's mount, so the interface is made to Dead Air's spec rather than reverse engineered. If your can uses a different mounting system, this will not attach to it.
Absolutely, and that is one of its biggest strengths. It works as a full-time flash hider and compensator on its own, with roughly 20 to 25 percent better muzzle rise control than a standard A2 while keeping comparable flash suppression. No thread protector or extra hardware needed when the can comes off.
The L is the long version at 2.7 inches, designed specifically for 13.9 inch barrels. With half an inch of barrel threading, it brings that setup out to 16.1 inches overall. The standard 6310KM is shorter and better suited to barrels that do not need the added length.
Use the built-in wrench flats with a 3/4 inch wrench, armorer's wrench, or Forward Controls' JMW muzzle device wrench, and torque to 30 ft-lbs. Do not stick a screwdriver or rod through the ports to tighten it, as that much torque applied through the ports will damage the device. Standard timing practices for 5/8×24 muzzle devices apply.
