The KSG is the shotgun that put Kel-Tec on the map back in 2011, and it still turns heads at the range today. The trick is the bullpup layout: by putting the action behind the trigger, Kel-Tec fit a full 18.5 inch barrel into a package just 26.1 inches long. Then they doubled down with twin magazine tubes running under the barrel. Load 2.75 inch shells and you're looking at 7+7+1 on board. Run 3 inch magnums and you still get 6+6+1. That's a serious amount of 12 gauge in something you can maneuver through a hallway one-handed.
The selector lever behind the trigger guard lets you choose which tube feeds the action, and this is where the KSG gets genuinely clever. Keep buckshot in one tube and slugs in the other, then swap between them with a flick of the lever. When one tube runs dry, switching to the full one takes a fraction of a second, which Kel-Tec likes to call the world's fastest reload. Spent shells eject straight down, so lefties and righties can run this gun without ever catching hulls in the face.
The receiver is hardened steel with the magazine tubes welded in place, while the grip and stock assembly use glass-reinforced nylon to keep the whole gun under 7 pounds unloaded. Takedown is simple too, with two push pins that store in holes in the grip so you don't lose them. A soft rubber butt pad takes the sting out of heavier loads, and built-in sling loops fore and aft are ready to go with the included sling.
The long top Picatinny rail is where your red dot or backup irons go, and the shorter rail under the pump handles a light or vertical grip. The 18.5 inch cylinder bore barrel patterns well with defensive loads and handles everything from mini shells around 1.75 inches up to 3 inch magnums. For home defense, truck duty, or just a fun day feeding it everything in your ammo can, the KSG delivers a lot of capability in a very small footprint.
