Both. This 5/8-24 version is made for .30 caliber and .45 caliber suppressor hosts, so it works fine on a .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor bolt gun as well as larger-bore setups. Just make sure your barrel is threaded 5/8-24 and your suppressor bore clears the bullet you're shooting.
No, it's a plain thread-protector style mount, not a brake or flash hider. That's the point of the design: minimal length, minimal weight, and minimal blast when shooting unsuppressed. Its job is simply to give your ASR-mounted suppressor a fast, secure attachment point.
Even at just an inch long, it has wrench flats machined on both the front and rear, so installation is simple with standard tools.
