Description

If you neck size or just want cleaner, smoother passes through your sizing die, the Redding Imperial Convenience Pak is one of those little upgrades that quietly makes bench time better. It bundles two Imperial staples in one clear plastic storage tube: a tub of the pre-charged ceramic Application Media and a separate tin of Imperial Dry Neck Lube for recharging it down the road. The idea is simple. Instead of hunting down the refill separately when your media runs low, you already have it sitting right there.

The Application Media is made up of high density ceramic spheres infused with dry lube. You give the tub a shake to spread the lube around, dip the case neck in, tap off the excess, and run it into your die. That dry blend coats the inside and outside of the neck at once, cutting drag on both the sizer and the expander button without the greasy residue of wet lubes. It also won't contaminate your powder, which is a big reason precision handloaders lean on it. The media works with just about any cartridge case, right down to 17 caliber.

Why the Imperial Convenience Pak Earns Bench Space

Neck friction does more than slow you down. The burnishing from the sizer and expander button adds stress to the brass with every pass, and a quality neck lube like this one helps ease that wear so your cases hold up through more reloadings. It's a favorite for folks running everything from thin-walled vintage brass to modern bushing dies.

Keeping the Convenience Pak Topped Off

The ceramic media lasts basically forever. You just recharge it with the included Dry Neck Lube roughly every 400 to 500 cases to keep coverage consistent. Dump a little lube in the media tub, cap it, shake it up, and you're back in business. A quick word to the wise: this stuff stains like printer toner, so keep a paper towel handy and work over a surface you don't mind. Once you get the rhythm down, prepping a batch of necks takes a couple of minutes flat.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the two containers in the Imperial Convenience Pak?

One container is the Application Media, which holds the ceramic spheres already charged with dry lube that you dip your case necks into. The other is a tin of Imperial Dry Neck Lube used to recharge that media once it runs low. You use the media for everyday application and keep the lube tin for refills.

How do I use the Application Media?

Shake the tub to distribute the lube across the ceramic spheres, then dip the case neck in no further than where the neck meets the shoulder. Invert the case and lightly tap it to knock off any excess before running it into your sizing die. That's it, inside and outside of the neck are coated in one quick motion.

Will the dry neck lube contaminate my powder?

No. The proprietary dry blend is formulated to have no detrimental effects on powder, which is exactly why neck sizers favor it over wet lubes. It coats the neck without leaving greasy residue that could migrate into the case.

How often does the media need recharging?

Redding recommends recharging the Application Media about every 400 to 500 cases to keep coverage even. Just add some of the included Dry Neck Lube to the media tub, cap it, and shake to redistribute. The ceramic media itself can be reused indefinitely.
