Hornady Custom 6.5 Grendel 123 gr SST Ammunition

Description

Hornady loads their Custom ammunition to replicate the consistency and accuracy you'd get from handloading, which is why this 6.5 Grendel 123-grain SST offering works equally well for hunters and precision shooters. Every round leaves the factory with hand-inspection quality control, and that matters when you're making shots that count.

The 123-grain Super Shock Tip bullet is built for this cartridge. Its polymer tip initiates fast expansion while the InterLock ring prevents core and jacket separation during impact. The result is controlled, reliable expansion paired with the weight retention needed for pass-through performance on deer-sized game. At 2580 feet per second, you get solid energy downrange without excessive recoil or the performance issues that sometimes hit when driving these bullets too hard.

Hornady Custom Load Precision

This isn't bulk ammunition treated as an afterthought. Hornady Custom is loaded with premium components and tight tolerances that rival handload consistency. Brass cases are Boxer-primed and reloadable, which means you get back usable brass after each shot. The powder charge and primer selection are specifically matched to this load for reliable ignition and velocity consistency.

Why 6.5 Grendel Works

The 6.5 Grendel was purpose-built for the AR-15 platform and brings significantly better ballistics than smaller intermediate rounds. This 123-grain load carries substantial wind resistance and retained energy out to medium hunting ranges while staying mild on recoil. Bolt-action rifles, properly tuned AR platforms, and even loose shooting guns often produce sub-MOA groups with this ammunition, making it versatile enough for competitive precision work and hunting applications.
