Yes, this version features a 20-inch chrome-lined A2 profile barrel with a parkerized exterior finish. Chrome lining adds bore durability, resists corrosion, and makes cleanup easier, which is exactly why the military spec'd it. It's a nice upgrade over some retro clones that skip the lining.
The 1:7 twist is the true military spec for the A2 and it handles a wide range of bullet weights. It stabilizes heavier 62 to 77 grain loads especially well, and standard 55 grain range ammo shoots just fine too. Since it's chambered in 5.56 NATO, you can safely run both 5.56 and .223 Remington.
No, the carry handle on a true M16A2 upper is fixed, not detachable, and this rifle stays faithful to that design. That said, the A2 aperture sights are regarded as some of the finest irons ever fielded, with adjustable windage and elevation built right in. If you want a flat-top for optics, you'd want an A4 style rifle instead.
