Howa has been building the 1500 action since 1979, and the Fence Line series is what happens when they dress up that proven platform with the features hunters keep asking for. This one is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor with a 22 inch cold hammer forged barrel wearing a 1:8 twist, which is exactly what you want for stabilizing the long, high BC bullets that make this cartridge such a favorite for deer, antelope, and steel past 500 yards. The muzzle comes threaded 5/8×24 with a radial brake already installed, so you can shoot it as is, spin the brake off for a suppressor, or run it bare.
The Scorched Earth camo synthetic stock and burnt bronze Cerakote metalwork give this rifle a weather resistant finish that blends into dry country and shrugs off rough treatment in the truck or on horseback. Underneath the fresh look you get everything the M1500 is known for: a forged steel receiver, dual locking lugs with a 90 degree bolt throw, an M16 style spring loaded extractor, and the HACT two stage trigger that breaks clean without any gunsmithing. The three position safety is a genuinely useful touch since it lets you cycle the bolt and unload with the safety engaged, or lock the bolt down completely for the walk back to camp.
Howa backs this rifle with a sub-MOA guarantee, meaning three shot groups of an inch or better at 100 yards with quality ammo, plus a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. That kind of confidence from the factory is rare at this end of the market. The receiver comes drilled and tapped, so mounting a scope base is quick and painless, and the 4 round hinged floorplate keeps loading simple without a magazine to lose in the field. If you want a do it all bolt gun that carries well, shoots straight, and looks sharp doing it, this Fence Line in 6.5 Creedmoor checks every box.
It does. Howa guarantees three shot groups of one inch or better at 100 yards with quality factory ammunition. The cold hammer forged barrel and HACT two stage trigger do a lot of the heavy lifting there, and the rifle is also covered by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
Yes. The 22 inch barrel is threaded 5/8×24, which is the standard pattern for most 6.5 and .30 caliber suppressors and muzzle devices. Just remove the included radial brake and thread your can on directly or with a compatible mount.
No, this short action model feeds from an internal magazine with a hinged floorplate and holds 4 rounds. The floorplate drops open for fast, safe unloading. Only the mini action Fence Line rifles use detachable magazines.
The receiver comes drilled and tapped but does not include a base, so plan on picking up rings or a rail. Any base cut for the Howa 1500 short action will work, and since the 1500 shares its footprint with the Weatherby Vanguard, those mounts fit as well. Options are plentiful and easy to find.
