Howa has been building the 1500 action in Japan since 1979, and there is a reason so many custom rifle builders start with one. The Fence Line series takes that proven barreled action and dresses it for a life outdoors, with a Prairie Reaper camo synthetic stock over flat dark earth Cerakote on the barrel and receiver. Rain, dust, and a season of riding in the truck are not going to faze this thing, which is exactly the point.
The 22 inch cold hammer forged barrel comes threaded with a radial muzzle brake already installed, so you can shoot it braked, swap to a suppressor, or run a thread protector as you see fit. The 1:8 twist stabilizes the long, high BC bullets that made 6.5 Creedmoor famous, and Howa backs the whole package with a sub-MOA guarantee of one inch or better at 100 yards. That is not marketing fluff either. These barreled actions have earned their accuracy reputation over decades.
The bolt runs on dual locking lugs with a 90 degree throw and an M16 style spring loaded extractor, so cycling is smooth and extraction is positive even when things get dirty. The HACT two stage trigger breaks clean out of the box, and the three position safety lets you unload with the safety engaged or lock the bolt down for the walk back to the truck. Rounds feed from an internal magazine with a hinged floorplate, which keeps the profile slim and means there is no detachable mag to lose in the tall grass.
The receiver comes drilled and tapped, so mounting a scope base is quick work. Add glass and ammo and this rifle is ready for deer season, antelope country, or stretching steel past 500 yards. Howa stands behind it with a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects, which says a lot about how they feel about their work.
Howa backs the Fence Line with a sub-MOA guarantee, meaning groups of one inch or better at 100 yards with quality ammo. The cold hammer forged barrel and HACT two stage trigger do most of the heavy lifting there. As with any rifle, try a few factory loads to find the one your barrel likes best.
Yes. The 22 inch barrel is threaded and ships with a radial muzzle brake installed, so you can remove the brake and spin on a suppressor or muzzle device of your choice. The threading on the short action Fence Line rifles is the common 5/8×24 pattern, which matches most 6.5mm and .30 caliber cans.
No optic or bases are included. The receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory, so adding a scope base and rings is a five minute job. Standard Howa 1500 short action mounts fit, and there are plenty of quality options available since the 1500 shares its footprint with several popular patterns.
This 6.5 Creedmoor model feeds from an internal magazine with a hinged floorplate, holding 4 rounds. That keeps the rifle slim for carrying and means there is no magazine to misplace in the field. The floorplate drops open for quick, easy unloading, and the three position safety lets you cycle rounds out with the safety still engaged.
