There's a lot to like about a bolt gun that's sized for the cartridge it shoots. Most rifles chambered in .350 Legend ride on a short action with wasted bolt travel, but Howa built the Fence Line Mini around a genuinely scaled-down receiver. The result is a shorter, quicker bolt throw, less weight, and a rifle that comes up fast and handles like a proper brush gun. At the heart of it is the same Howa 1500 barreled action that's been earning its keep since 1979, made in Japan by Howa Machinery and backed by a sub-MOA accuracy guarantee.
The .350 Legend has become a go-to for whitetail hunters who want straight-wall performance with mild recoil, and it pairs beautifully with this 16.25 inch cold hammer forged heavy barrel. The muzzle comes threaded from the factory, so spinning on a brake or suppressor takes about a minute, and the Legend's wide selection of subsonic loads makes it a natural fit for quiet shooting. The 1:16 twist stabilizes the common bullet weights, and the compact overall length means this rifle slides into a blind, a truck, or a saddle scabbard without a fight.
Howa's HACT two-stage trigger is one of the best in this price class, with light take-up and a clean, creep-free break. The three-position safety lets you cycle the action on safe or lock the bolt down entirely for transport, and the M16-style extractor and dual locking lugs keep everything running smooth season after season. The pillar-bedded HTI synthetic stock wears Prairie Reaper camo that looks right at home along field edges and open country, while the flat dark earth finish on the barrel and action rounds out a sharp, purposeful look. Feeding comes from a 3-round detachable magazine, and the receiver is ready for your optic of choice. For deer camp, hog control, or a straight-wall setup that shoots better than it has any right to, this little Howa delivers.
The mini action receiver and bolt are scaled down to fit AR-sized cartridges like the .350 Legend, rather than leaving empty space in a short action. That gives you a shorter bolt throw, faster cycling, and a lighter, more compact rifle overall. It handles noticeably quicker than a full-size bolt gun, which matters in blinds and thick cover.
Yes, the 16.25 inch heavy contour barrel comes threaded from the factory, so you can mount a suppressor or muzzle brake without any gunsmithing. The .350 Legend is a great pairing for suppressed use too, thanks to mild recoil and a solid selection of subsonic factory loads.
Howa backs the 1500 platform with a sub-MOA guarantee, meaning 1 inch or better groups at 100 yards with quality ammo. Owners of the Mini in .350 Legend regularly report sub-inch groups, and the HACT two-stage trigger makes it easy to shoot up to its potential. Inside the 200 yard range where the .350 Legend shines, that's plenty of accuracy for whitetail.
No iron sights are included, as this rifle is built to run with an optic. The receiver is set up for scope mounting, so you'll just need bases or a rail and rings to get your glass on board. A compact 2-7x or 3-9x scope balances nicely on this carbine-length setup.
