There's something great about a bolt gun chambered in 7.62×39. Ammo is everywhere, recoil is mild, and inside 200 yards it hits plenty hard for deer, hogs, and coyotes. The Howa Fenceline takes that idea and builds it right, pairing Howa's mini action with a 22 inch cold hammer forged barrel, a Cerakote treated barreled action, and a painted polymer stock in the Gray Light pattern. The muzzle comes threaded with a radial brake already installed, so you can run it as-is, quiet it down with a suppressor, or swap muzzle devices without a trip to the gunsmith.
Howa has been building the 1500 action since 1979, and the mini action version trims that platform down to fit short cartridges like the 7.62×39. The shorter, lighter bolt means a quicker throw and less movement off the rifle when you cycle a follow-up shot. You also get the HACT two stage trigger, which breaks clean right out of the box, plus a three position safety that lets you unload with the safety engaged. Dual locking lugs, a 90 degree bolt throw, and an M16 style extractor round out an action that runs smooth with both brass and steel cased ammo. Feeding comes from a detachable box magazine, and the 1:9.45 twist barrel is set up to stabilize the common 122 to 125 grain bullets this cartridge does best with.
