The 25 Creedmoor has been getting a lot of attention lately, and for good reason. It pushes long, high-BC quarter-bore bullets fast enough to flatten out trajectories at distance while staying easy on the shoulder, which makes it a legitimate do-it-all round for coyotes, deer-sized game, and steel past where most hunting cartridges start to run out of steam. Howa wasted no time chambering it, and the Fence Line version might be the smartest way to get into one. The 22 inch hammer-forged barrel carries a fast twist built specifically to stabilize those heavy modern bullets, so you get the full benefit of what this cartridge was designed to do.
Underneath the Prairie Reaper finish sits the same Howa 1500 barreled action that has been quietly outshooting rifles twice its price since 1979. The 90 degree bolt throw cycles smooth with dual locking lugs and an M16-style extractor, and the HACT two-stage trigger breaks clean without any gritty takeup. Howa backs it with a sub-MOA guarantee, three shots inside an inch at 100 yards, and these rifles have a long track record of beating that number with ammo they like. The three-position safety lets you unload with the safety engaged or lock the bolt down entirely for the walk back to the truck.
The Prairie Reaper Cerakote covers the barrel and the muzzle brake too, not just the receiver, so the whole rifle shrugs off rain, sweat, and truck bed abuse while blending into dry grass and open country. The barrel comes threaded from the factory with a radial brake already installed, so you can shoot it as-is, swap to a suppressor, or run a thread protector, whatever suits the day. The receiver is drilled and tapped and ready for your optic of choice. Feeding comes from an internal magazine with a hinged floorplate, which keeps the profile slick and snag-free for carrying through brush or sliding in and out of a scabbard.
It covers a lot of ground. The 25 Creedmoor sends high-BC quarter-bore bullets fast, so it works for varmints and predators, deer-sized game, and long-range target shooting all from one rifle. The fast twist in this 22 inch barrel is built to stabilize the heavy modern bullets that make the cartridge shine at distance.
No, this short action model feeds from an internal magazine with a hinged floorplate that holds 4 rounds. The floorplate design keeps the bottom of the rifle slick and snag-free, and it drops open for quick, easy unloading. The three-position safety also lets you cycle rounds out with the safety still engaged.
Yes. The 22 inch hammer-forged barrel comes threaded from the factory with a Cerakoted radial muzzle brake already installed. Spin the brake off and you can mount a suppressor or run a thread protector instead.
No optic ships with the rifle. The receiver comes drilled and tapped, so you can add a Picatinny rail or traditional bases and rings for whatever scope fits your style of hunting. Given the sub-MOA guarantee on this rifle, it is worth pairing with glass that can keep up.
