Getting your scope mounted right is half the battle, and a sloppy two-piece base can cost you your zero at the worst possible moment. This EGW HD Picatinny rail solves that by giving you one continuous, rigid platform across the receiver of your Howa 1500 or Weatherby Vanguard long action. It's machined in-house from solid 7075 T6 aircraft-grade aluminum and finished in a matte black hardcoat, so it holds up to recoil, weather, and years of range time without flinching.
The rail runs 7.064 inches overall with a 4.485-inch center spread, matching the hole spacing on the long action receiver. It sits about 0.35 inches high from the top of the receiver to the top of the Picatinny, which keeps your optic in a sensible position for most ring heights. At just 2.5 ounces, it adds almost nothing to your carry weight on a backcountry hunt.
The Picatinny cross slots run the full length of the rail and are cut to MIL-STD 1913 spec, so you get real flexibility in setting eye relief and plenty of room for different ring positions. That also means it plays nice with Picatinny or Weaver rings and quick-disconnect setups if you like pulling your optic on and off. This is the 0 MOA version, which gives you a flat, neutral base that's ideal for general hunting and standard-range shooting out to around 500 yards.
This mount fits Howa 1500 long action, Weatherby Vanguard long action, and the Smith & Wesson 1500 long action. It's beveled on both sides, so right- and left-handed shooters get the same clean fit. It will not fit the Howa 1500 Superlite, so double-check your model before ordering. Installation is straightforward with the included #6-48 screws and T-10 bit. EGW recommends torquing to 20 inch-pounds and a drop of blue thread locker for a setup that stays put.

A 20 MOA rail adds forward elevation to stretch your scope's range for long-distance shooting, so go 0 MOA unless you're specifically chasing targets way out there.
