Horizon Firearms has been building precision bolt guns in Bryan, Texas for years, and the Vandal DM (Dedicated Marksman) is their first true chassis rifle. This one wears a 22 inch spiral fluted barrel chambered in 25 Creedmoor, a cartridge Horizon jumped on early and one that has quickly earned a following with long range and match crowds. Necked down from the 6.5 Creedmoor, the 25 CM pushes modern high BC .257 caliber bullets fast and flat with recoil that stays polite, which is exactly what you want when spotting your own impacts matters.
The backbone here is the XLR Element 4.0 aluminum chassis in black anodized finish, a platform that has earned real respect in the precision community. You get a full length ARCA rail underneath for quick bipod and tripod swaps, and the chassis runs AICS pattern detachable box magazines, so feeding options are everywhere. Up top, the black chrome receiver carries a Picatinny rail for straightforward scope mounting, and the whole rifle carries a blacked out look that matches its purpose.
That 22 inch tube gives the 25 Creedmoor room to stretch its legs velocity wise, and the aggressive spiral fluting is a Horizon signature that trims weight and helps the barrel shed heat during longer strings. The 25 Creedmoor is a 6.5 Creedmoor case necked down to .257 caliber, and it has been standardized through SAAMI with Hornady involved in its development. Factory ammunition is available from Hornady, and handloaders have a growing selection of high BC .257 bullets to work with. It delivers flat trajectories and mild recoil, which is a big part of why match and long range hunters have taken to it.
The XLR Element 4.0 chassis on this rifle uses an integrated detachable box magazine system built around AICS pattern magazines. That is one of the most common short action magazine standards out there, so you can pick up spares from a wide range of manufacturers without any fuss.
Yes, the 22 inch spiral fluted barrel comes with a threaded muzzle from the factory. You can run a muzzle brake to cut recoil and stay on target for follow up shots, or attach a suppressor with a compatible mount. Either way, no gunsmithing is needed to get a device on the end of this rifle.
