These Hogue Fancy Hardwood grips are cut from cocobolo, an exotic hardwood known for its deep reddish-brown tones and dramatic grain. Hogue starts with kiln-dried stock, precision inlets each grip on CNC machinery, then hand finishes them for a proper fit.
Beyond the good looks, these carry Hogue's orthopedic hand fit, a contoured shape designed to fill the palm and put your finger where it needs to be on the trigger. The finger grooves give you a consistent, repeatable hold shot after shot, which matters when you're running heavier .357 or .44 loads and want the gun to settle the same way every time. Rather than a sprayed-on coating that can chip and peel, Hogue hand polishes each grip to a sheen using natural carnauba wax, so it holds up and can be freshened over time.

The stock Hogue rubber grip comes off with the single screw at the bottom of the grip frame, and once you pull the old grip and its stirrup hardware, the wood set slides on over the frame using the included locating pin and screw. No gunsmithing or special tools needed. Ruger grip studs can vary slightly gun to gun, so if a set fits a touch loose, snugging the bottom screw pulls everything tight against the shoulder at the top of the stud where recoil is transferred.

Cocobolo is a dense, durable exotic hardwood and holds up well to standard GP100 and Super Redhawk loads. The grip seats against the shoulder at the top of the stud, which is where recoil is transferred, so keeping the bottom screw tight is the key to long-term durability.
