The Ruger Security-9 is a solid mid-size carry gun, but that molded polymer frame can feel a little slick and boxy in the hand. The Hogue HandALL Beavertail was built specifically to fix that. Because the Security-9 has a built-in grip frame that won't take swappable panels, Hogue engineered this sleeve to work with the gun's existing frame, hugging its contours for a snug fit that doesn't rotate or shift once it's seated. The OD Green color gives it a muted, field-ready look that pairs well with an outdoor or duty setup.
The whole point here is control and comfort. Molded finger grooves position your hand the same way every draw, while gentle ambidextrous palm swells fill the space that the factory grip leaves empty. The beavertail rides high along the backstrap, putting rubber between your hand and the frame up where the web of your thumb sits. That extra contact spreads out recoil forces and lets you choke up high on the gun without worrying about slide bite.
Hogue's Cobblestone texture is the star of the show. It's grippy and tacky in wet or sweaty conditions without being so aggressive that it chews up your hands or snags a cover garment. The sleeve is molded from a durable thermoplastic elastomer that stays firm and tacky through years of handling and won't harden, split, or crack with age. It also shrugs off the gun oils and solvents you'll run into during normal cleaning.
This is a slip-on part, but a properly tight one, so plan to spend a few minutes on install. Most folks warm the sleeve in hot water or with a hair dryer to soften it up, then hit the frame and the inside of the sleeve with a spray of window cleaner to help it slide into place. Line up the beavertail on the backstrap and work it on. The snug fit is exactly why it stays put once it's on.
Yes. This sleeve is molded specifically for the full-size Ruger Security-9 and is designed to work with the gun's built-in polymer frame, which won't accept swappable grip panels. It matches the frame's contours for a precise, secure fit rather than being a loose universal sleeve.
It slides over the existing grip frame until it seats into place. Warming the sleeve in hot water or with a hair dryer softens it up, and spraying window cleaner on the frame and the inside of the sleeve helps it slide on. Just make sure the beavertail lines up on the backstrap, and once it dries it grips tight and stays put.
It takes a little effort since the fit is snug by design, which is exactly why it won't rotate or shift once installed. Heating it and using window cleaner as a lubricant makes the job much easier, and most people have it seated in a few minutes.
It does. The high beavertail puts rubber between your hand and the frame up top and spreads out recoil forces, while the Cobblestone texture and finger grooves give you a firmer, more consistent hold. The added rubber also lets you grip higher without worrying about slide bite.
