The G36 has been a fixture in the rifle world since the German Bundeswehr adopted it in 1997, and this .22 LR version brings that iconic profile to the rimfire crowd. HK teamed up with Umarex of Germany to build it, and the result is far more than a lookalike. Several components are compatible with the original G36, including the handguard, sight rail, and that signature side-folding stock. Pick it up and it handles like the real thing, right down to the carry handle silhouette and short-throw safety.
The 16.1 inch barrel keeps the rifle balanced and quick to shoulder, and at roughly 6.4 pounds it stays comfortable through long sessions. Like most semi-auto rimfires, it tends to run most reliably with high-velocity .22 LR loads such as CCI Mini-Mags or similar 36 to 40 grain rounds. Standard velocity and bulk ammo can work fine too, but if you hit occasional cycling hiccups, stepping up to a quality high-velocity load usually clears it right up.
