The VP9A1 K Tactical is a new-for-2026 addition to HK's VP9A1 lineup, and it brings everything the serious compact pistol buyer has been asking for, straight from the factory. The "K" designation means compact, and this pistol pairs a shorter frame and slide with a 4.7-inch hammer-forged, cold-forged barrel that threads out at M13.5×1 LH, which is HK's standard metric thread pattern for their 9mm pistols. The suppressor-height night sights are designed to give you a 1/3 co-witness through a mounted red dot while also staying visible over the top of most suppressors when you're running a can. No sight swaps needed.
The optics-ready slide uses HK's nine-plate adapter system, which covers the most popular red dot footprints on the market including Trijicon, Holosun, EOTech, Leupold, and Vortex, among others. You're not locked into a single footprint, and no gunsmithing is required to mount up. The A1 upgrade generation also brought a nicer trigger to the whole VP9 family: short takeup, clean single-action-style break, and a short positive reset. It also shipped a nickel-Teflon coated trigger bar, a factory-flared magwell molded into the frame, and front-and-rear maritime serrations on the slide for a confident grip in any condition.
The grip system is one of the VP9's most underrated features. Interchangeable backstraps and side panels give you up to 45 possible configurations, and the A1-generation backstraps include options that change the actual length of pull, not just the circumference. Controls are fully ambidextrous, so left-handed shooters aren't working around anything. There's also a full-length Picatinny rail on the dust cover for weapon lights.
This 10-round configuration is built for certain markets, and it ships with two 10-round magazines. At its core, the VP9A1 K Tactical is a compact duty-grade pistol that arrives suppressor and optic ready right out of the box, without asking you to spend extra time or money getting it there.
The barrel threads are M13.5×1 LH, which is a left-hand metric pattern that HK uses across its 9mm threaded-barrel pistols. Most 9mm suppressors are threaded in 1/2×28, so you will need an M13.5×1 LH booster or thread adapter to mount most American-market suppressors. Many suppressor manufacturers sell compatible pistons or adapters separately.
The slide is cut for HK's nine-plate adapter system, which is compatible with footprints from Trijicon, Holosun, EOTech, Leupold, Meopta, Vortex, and others, but adapter plates are not included in the box. You purchase the specific plate for the optic you want to run, and no gunsmithing is required to install it.
The suppressor-height night sights on the VP9A1 K Tactical are tall enough to provide a 1/3 co-witness through the window of a mounted red dot, and they sit high enough to remain visible over the top of most suppressors. This means you have reliable iron sight backup whether you're running a can, an optic, both, or neither.
The standard VP9A1 K has a 4.09-inch barrel with standard-height sights and no threaded muzzle. The Tactical version bumps the barrel out to 4.7 inches, adds a threaded muzzle in M13.5×1 LH, and swaps in suppressor-height night sights. Both share the same grip frame, A1-generation trigger, optics-ready slide, and overall ergonomics.
The extended threaded barrel will add overall length compared to a standard VP9, so most standard VP9 holsters will not accommodate this model without modifications. You will want a holster specifically designed for the VP9 Tactical or one with an adjustable muzzle opening. There are a growing number of aftermarket options available that fit the threaded barrel configuration.
