The Geissele Hi-Speed National Match is the trigger a lot of High Power and precision guys consider the gold standard, and this version is built specifically for the 1990 to 2009 Colt large pin lowers that use the bigger trigger and hammer pins. It is a fully adjustable two-stage with a curved shoe, machined from steel with a matte black finish. Where it earns its reputation is the crisp, repeatable second-stage break and the fact that you can tune first-stage weight, second-stage weight, total pull, over-travel, and sear engagement to your exact preference. This is not a set-it-and-forget-it drop-in. It rewards patience during setup, and once it is dialed in it stays that way.
What makes this set such good value is that it is really three triggers in one box. It ships with three complete spring sets so you can pick the personality that fits your rifle and your discipline. The Service Rifle setup puts most of the weight on the first stage for that icicle-sharp let-off at a nominal 4.5 pound total, which keeps it legal for CMP and NRA High Power Service Rifle competition. The DMR set carries a heavier second stage that gives you more control in high-stress or tactical shooting where pull weight is not regulated. The Match set drops down to the lightest range, roughly 1.9 to 3.4 pounds total, for those built-to-the-hilt AR-15 space guns where every ounce of accuracy matters.
Setup takes some effort and the right hands. The package includes the fitting tool, springs, grease, oil, Allen wrenches, and dedicated pins, and Geissele recommends a certified gunsmith handle the install since the adjustability lets you tune out small receiver variations. The trigger spring is built to last the life of the trigger, and the full-power hammer spring drives more energy into the firing pin for consistent primer ignition. Fits AR-15 and AR-10 style rifles running the Colt large pin.
This set is built for the larger Colt trigger and hammer pins found on 1990 to 2009 Colt lowers, not standard mil-spec .154 inch pins. If your lower uses the smaller mil-spec pins, you want the standard Hi-Speed National Match instead. Check your pin diameter before ordering so you get the right fit.
The three sets let one trigger cover three very different jobs. Service Rifle keeps you at the 4.5 pound minimum for CMP and High Power competition, DMR gives a heavier second stage for tactical work, and Match drops to the lightest range for precision space guns. You swap springs to match the discipline rather than buying separate triggers.
