A .30-30 lever gun is about as close to a do-it-all deer rifle as it gets, and the Henry All-Weather Side Gate takes that proven formula and builds it for the worst days of the season. Instead of traditional bluing, Henry plates the 20 inch round barrel and receiver in a satin hard chrome that bonds directly to the steel. It won't flake or peel, it resists rust better than some stainless, and it hardens the surface against the dings that come with truck racks, treestands, and brush. Henry even went with stainless screws, so the small stuff holds up too. As a bonus, that slick chrome plating cuts friction inside the action, and you can feel it when you run the lever.
This is one of Henry's Side Gate models, which means you get the classic side loading gate for topping off the 5 round magazine, plus Henry's removable tube for unloading without cycling every round through the chamber. Once you use both together, it's tough to go back. The fully adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight with a diamond insert and brass bead front are quick to pick up in timber, and the receiver comes drilled and tapped if you'd rather mount a scope for longer shots across a bean field.

Yes. The receiver comes drilled and tapped from the factory and accepts a Weaver 63B style base. Since it's a side ejecting design, spent brass clears out of the way of a scope mounted low over the receiver.
You get both loading options on one rifle. Top off the 5 round magazine through the side gate like a traditional lever gun, and when it's time to unload, pull the inner magazine tube and dump the rounds instead of cycling each one through the action. It's a genuinely handy combination in the field.
It's a satin hard chrome plating bonded directly to the steel, and Henry rates its corrosion resistance above some stainless steels. It won't chip, flake, or peel like a sprayed coating, and even the screws are stainless. Basic cleaning is still smart, but this rifle handles rain and snow far better than a blued gun.
