Description

The AR-7 has been riding along with U.S. Air Force pilots since 1959, and the concept has not changed because it never needed to. Henry builds this modern version around the same idea: a semi-auto .22 LR that comes apart in seconds and disappears into its own buttstock. The barrel, receiver, and two 8-round magazines all tuck inside the impact-resistant ABS stock, and the whole package measures just 16.5 inches stowed. No tools required going either direction, just thread the barrel nut on by hand, attach the receiver, and you are shooting in under a minute.

Built to Take Weather and Neglect

The steel barrel wears an ABS jacket with a Teflon coating, and the receiver gets the same corrosion-fighting treatment. That matters for a rifle that spends most of its life stashed in a pack, a truck box, or the hull of a canoe rather than a climate-controlled safe. The stock is water resistant too, so a rainy portage or a dunked drybag is not going to ruin your day. Everything about the design assumes you will forget about it for months and then need it to run.

Why the AR-7 Still Makes Sense

At 3.5 pounds assembled and 35 inches overall, this is about as little rifle as you can carry while still having a legitimate small game tool. Chambered in .22 LR, a few hundred rounds of ammo adds barely any weight to your kit, which is exactly why bush pilots, backpackers, and canoe campers keep gravitating to this platform decades later. The blade front and adjustable peep rear sights get the job done out to sensible rimfire distances, and the 3/8 inch grooved receiver accepts a compact scope or red dot if your eyes prefer glass.

Henry U.S. Survival AR-7 in All Black

This H002B model wears an all-black finish over the whole rifle, the most popular look in the lineup. It is one of those pieces that does one job extremely well: staying small, staying light, and being ready when the situation calls for a rifle you did not know you would need.

Frequently Asked Questions

How small is the Henry AR-7 when it's packed away?

With the barrel, receiver, and both magazines stowed inside the buttstock, the whole rifle measures just 16.5 inches long. That is short enough to fit in most daypacks, boat compartments, and bug-out bags. Assembled, it stretches to 35 inches overall.

Do I need tools to assemble the AR-7?

No tools at all. You attach the receiver to the stock, insert the barrel, and tighten the barrel nut by hand. Most folks can go from stowed to ready in well under a minute after a little practice.

Can I mount a scope or red dot on the U.S. Survival AR-7?

Yes, the receiver has a 3/8 inch grooved rail that accepts rimfire scope rings and compact optics. Keep in mind the barrel and receiver may not fit back inside the stock with a larger optic mounted, so a low-profile red dot or small rimfire scope is the practical route. The included blade front and adjustable peep rear sights work fine for most small game distances.

How many magazines come with the H002B, and does it take other ammo types?

This model ships with two 8-round magazines, and the stock has storage cutouts to hold both. As a semi-automatic, it is designed to cycle .22 LR specifically, so stick with standard or high-velocity .22 LR loads for reliable function.
