Description
Adding glass to a lever gun is one of the best upgrades you can make, and EGW's one-piece Picatinny base is the kind of foundation that lets your Henry Big Boy actually shine. It's CNC machined from domestic 6061 T6 extruded aluminum in EGW's own shop, then tumbled, sandblasted, and Type II anodized in a matte black finish that cuts glare and holds up to real hunting weather. At just about 2 ounces, it adds a rock-solid mounting surface without weighing down the front of your rifle.
What Makes the EGW Big Boy Picatinny Base Work
Picatinny cross slots run the full length of the rail, so you've got the room to slide your rings forward or back and dial in comfortable eye relief with just about any scope. The relieved channel down the center trims weight, and in a lot of setups it leaves your factory iron sights usable underneath. This is a 0 MOA base, which EGW recommends for shooting anywhere from 0 to 500 yards, right in the wheelhouse of most Big Boy calibers.
Fitment You'll Want to Double-Check
Here's the important part: this rail fits the Henry Big Boy Gen 2 (H006) and the Big Boy Steel Gen 2 (H012). It does not fit the Henry Golden Boy (H004). EGW once marketed it as a Golden Boy mount and later corrected that, so if you've seen the old listings floating around, this one is a Big Boy rail. It's a good habit to measure the hole spacing on your receiver against the published dimensions before you order, just to be sure.
Mounting the EGW Rail
Installation is straightforward. The base is ambidextrous and works with any standard Picatinny or Weaver-style rings. EGW includes the #8-40 x 1/4 screws and a T-10 Torx bit right in the package, so you don't need to hunt down extra hardware. Torque the screws to 20 inch-pounds with a drop of blue thread locker and you're set for a mount that stays put.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this EGW Picatinny rail fit my Henry Golden Boy?
No. Despite being marketed as a Golden Boy mount in the past, EGW confirmed that was incorrect and this rail fits only the Henry Big Boy Gen 2 (H006) and Big Boy Steel Gen 2 (H012). If you own a Golden Boy (H004), you'll want a different mount. It's smart to measure your receiver's hole spacing against the published dimensions before ordering.
What does 0 MOA mean and is it right for me?
0 MOA means the rail has no built-in forward cant, so your optic sits level with the bore. EGW recommends a 0 MOA base for shooting from 0 to 500 yards, which covers the vast majority of Big Boy use. A 20 MOA base is only worth considering if you're pushing out toward 500 to 1000 yards.
Do I need to buy anything extra to install the Big Boy Picatinny rail?
The rail comes with the #8-40 screws and a T-10 Torx bit, so the mounting hardware is covered. You will still need Picatinny or Weaver-style scope rings, which are sold separately. EGW also suggests a drop of blue thread locker and torquing the screws to 20 inch-pounds for a mount that stays locked in.
Can I still use my iron sights with this rail installed?
In many setups, yes. The channel machined down the center of the rail reduces mass and often leaves the factory iron sights usable underneath. It varies a bit by rifle and ring choice, so check clearance once you have it mounted.
