When you're hunting in tall grass, deep snow, or need to shoot from a sitting position, a short bipod just doesn't cut it. The Harris 25C in Kryptek Highlander is the tallest model Harris builds, with three-piece legs that pull out anywhere from 13.5 inches all the way up to 27 inches. That range lets you sit on the ground and still see over vegetation, then drop it back down for a lower profile when you need it. The Highlander camo pattern helps it disappear against brushy, rocky backcountry.
The "S" in this model stands for swivel, and it's the feature that separates it from the fixed 25C. The head tilts left or right so you can level your reticle when you're set up on a slope or broken ground, without fussing with different leg heights on each side. Think of it as cant correction rather than a full rotation, and there's a tension knob so you can dial in how freely it moves or lock it down close to solid when you want it stiff. On rough terrain, that little bit of give is what keeps your horizontal crosshair actually horizontal.
This one clamps onto the standard Q.D. sling swivel stud found on most bolt-action hunting rifles, and it still has its own built-in stud so you can run your sling as usual. The legs are spring-loaded and kick out to height with the push of a button, then lock in with the thumb screws. Construction is heat-treated steel and hard alloys with rubber leg caps for grip on firm surfaces, which is the same tough, made-in-USA build that has kept Harris the standard others try to copy.
At right around 22 ounces it stays light enough to leave mounted all season, and it folds forward toward the muzzle to stay out of your way while carrying. If you shoot deer across a field, call coyotes from a seated setup, or just want steadier long-range groups, this is the tall Harris a lot of folks reach for first.
It clamps onto the standard Q.D. sling swivel stud found on most bolt-action hunting rifles, so if your rifle has a front sling stud, it will mount up. It also has its own built-in swivel stud so you can still run your sling. It does not attach to Picatinny or M-LOK, since those need different Harris models.
The swivel model tilts left and right so you can level your crosshairs on uneven or sloped ground without adjusting each leg separately. A tension knob lets you set how freely it pivots or lock it down nearly solid. Buyers who own the fixed version often mention wishing they had gone with the swivel for shooting on rough terrain.
The 25C is the tallest bipod Harris makes, built mainly for seated shooting and getting up over grass or snow. Collapsed to 13.5 inches it can work for high-clearance prone, but if most of your shooting is flat prone off the bench or ground, a shorter Harris in the 6-9 or 9-13 inch range is usually a better fit.
The legs are spring-loaded and kick out to full height at the push of a button, then you set your height and lock it with the thumb screws. When you're done, they fold forward toward the muzzle and stay put under spring tension, so they stay out of the way while you carry. The smooth legs give you fine height control across the whole 13.5 to 27 inch range.
