The GrovTec GTSW231 pulls double duty on a KeyMod handguard. It gives you a short MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny section for hanging accessories, and it also has a built-in QD flush-cup push-button base so you can clip in a quick-detach sling swivel right at the same spot. That combination is what sets this piece apart from a plain rail segment, and it's handy when you're tight on handguard space and want your sling and your gear working off the same real estate.
Each one is precision CNC machined from lightweight solid aluminum and finished in a Type III black hard anodize. That anodizing is the tough stuff, so it holds up to holster wear, weather, and the general beating a working rifle takes. The 3.1-inch length gives you five slots of Picatinny to play with, which is enough for a compact light, a laser, a vertical grip, or a bipod stud adapter without adding a bunch of weight out on the forend.
Mounting is straightforward. The rail drops onto the keyhole-shaped KeyMod slots, and the included hardware and Allen key handle the rest. Line up the T-nuts with the larger part of the keyholes, slide it back, and torque it down. The beveled ends are a nice touch too, since they knock down the sharp corners so the rail doesn't grab on slings, brush, or your gear when you're moving around.
While it was designed with the AR platform and KeyMod handguards in mind, this rail works with just about any 1913-compatible accessory you'd want to run. If you've got a KeyMod forend and want a reliable spot for both a sling swivel and a rail-mounted accessory, the GTSW231 covers both jobs in one part.
The GTSW231 adds a QD flush-cup push-button base to the rail section, so it serves as both a Picatinny mounting point and a quick-detach sling attachment. GrovTec's other KeyMod rail segments, like the GTSW227 and GTSW228, are rail-only. If you want a sling point and accessory rail from one piece, this is the model to grab.
It's made to mount on any standard KeyMod handguard using the keyhole-shaped slots. The included T-nut hardware slides into the slots and locks the rail in place. If your forend has KeyMod cutouts, this rail will attach to it.
The rail follows the MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny pattern, so it accepts pretty much any 1913-compatible accessory. That includes weapon lights, lasers, vertical grips, and bipod adapters. Five slots gives you enough room for a compact accessory without crowding the handguard.
