The GrovTec 2.2 inch 5-slot Stock AR Picatinny rail is a straightforward way to get a real mounting surface on an AR without tearing off your factory forearm. It measures 2.2 inches and packs five slots into a compact footprint, which makes it a good pick when you just need a short stretch of rail for a light, laser, or small optic rather than a full-length handguard rebuild.
This rail follows the MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny spec, so it plays nice with the huge range of Pic-mount accessories already out there. Lasers, sights, scopes, bipod adaptors, and other gear all clamp on the way they should. Beveled ends knock down the sharp corners that love to snag on gear and clothing, which is a small touch you appreciate every time you handle the gun.
GrovTec cuts these from lightweight solid aluminum on CNC equipment, then hits them with a Type III black hard anodize. That finish is the tough stuff, so it holds up to wear and shrugs off corrosion better than a basic anodize. It stays low profile and light, so you are not adding meaningful weight to add capability.
Mounting hardware and an allen key come in the box, so you can get it on without a trip to the parts bin. The kit uses a sandwich-style setup with two 10-32 hex head screws at .375 inch length, two washers, and two flat threaded backplates. Hole spacing on the 2.2 inch model runs from a minimum of 1.20 inches to a maximum of 1.50 inches, which covers standard stock AR forearm layouts. It is a proven fit for AR-platform builds, and folks have adapted these sections to other flat-surface projects too when they need a bit of rail in a hurry.
