Instead of clipping panels into individual slots, it wraps the whole forend in laser cut 1000D Cordura and laces down tight with genuine 550 paracord. The result is a comfortable, grippy surface that puts a real barrier between your support hand and all that heat, plus it covers up the sharp edges and checkering that chew up bare hands during long range sessions.
This is the extended version of GrovTec's popular 6 inch wrap, and the extra length matters if you run a longer handguard or like to stretch your support hand way out front. It is designed to fit most handguards, including non-AR forearms, so lever gun and shotgun owners with M-Lok forends are not left out. The paracord lacing is fully replaceable too, so you can size it to your specific rail or swap in a different cord color if you want to change up the look.
GrovTec built some genuinely useful extras into this wrap. Integrated elastic webbing gives you a clean spot to stow a sling when it is not in use, and the same loops work great for routing pressure switch wires and light cables so nothing snags or dangles. The wrap keeps M-Lok compatibility for both top and bottom mounted accessories, so you can still hang a light, bipod, or hand stop right through it.
