The .243 Winchester has been putting down coyotes and whitetails for decades, and dropping it into an AR-10 platform makes a lot of sense. Great Lakes Firearms builds this one in Michigan around a 24-inch 416R stainless barrel with a 1:8 twist and 5R rifling, and the barrels are double thermally stress-relieved and air-gauged before they leave the shop. That long tube squeezes every bit of velocity out of the .243, which matters when you are stretching shots across a bean field or a prairie dog town.
The tungsten Cerakote finish over the billet 7075 aluminum upper and lower gives this rifle a sharp two-tone look, and Cerakote holds up to weather and truck-rack abuse far better than a bare finish. Up front, a 20-inch aluminum handguard with a full-length top rail gives you all the real estate you need for a big scope, bipod, and whatever else your setup calls for. The barrel comes threaded 5/8×24 with a muzzle brake installed, which takes the already mild .243 recoil down to nearly nothing. A rifle-length gas system with a .750 gas block keeps the action running smooth, and the mil-spec trigger breaks in the 5.5 to 6 pound range, plenty workable out of the box with room to upgrade later since it accepts standard AR-10 lower parts.

The 1:8 twist on this barrel stabilizes heavier bullets in the 90 to 105 grain range well, which is what you want for deer, while still shooting lighter varmint loads fine.
It ships with one 5-round magazine and runs on standard AR-10 pattern magazines since .243 Winchester is based on the .308 case. That means SR-25/DPMS pattern .308 mags will generally feed it, giving you plenty of affordable capacity options for range days.
Yes. The lower accepts standard AR-10 compatible parts including triggers and safeties, so drop-in units and aftermarket trigger groups install just like they would in any DPMS-pattern build. The factory mil-spec trigger breaks around 5.5 to 6 pounds, which is serviceable for hunting right out of the box.
