The Grand Power ARAQ-S is one of those rifles that scratches an itch a lot of 7.62×39 fans have had for years. It takes the familiar handling and modularity of the AR/M4 platform and pairs it with the stout, dependable 7.62×39 cartridge, so you get AR controls and feel with the ballistics people love about the AK round. Built by Grand Power out of Slovakia, it runs on a short stroke piston system rather than direct impingement, which means cleaner operation cycle after cycle and a gun that stays running without fuss.
The big selling point here is magazine compatibility. The ARAQ-S feeds from standard AK47/AKM pattern magazines, so the mags and 7.62×39 ammo you can find just about anywhere will work in it. That solves one of the classic headaches of running this caliber in an AR-style gun. It ships with a 20-round magazine for a 20+1 capacity, and the receiver carries a Picatinny rail up top for mounting your optic or sights of choice.
The free-float M-LOK handguard is a standout. It gives you plenty of real estate for lights, grips, and accessories, plus accessory rail sections, and it can be pulled off without any tools when it's time to clean or tinker. Up front you've got an 11-inch barrel that keeps the whole package compact and quick to maneuver. The Grand Power proprietary pistol grip is shaped for a secure, comfortable hold, and the multi-position collapsible stock lets you dial in length of pull for your body, your gear, or whoever else is shooting it.
Grand Power rounded out the ARAQ-S with practical touches that matter at the range. A case deflector sends brass clear of your face, and a forward assist is on board for those rare times you need to seat a round. It's a right-hand configuration with a firing pin and trigger block safety system. For anyone who wants an AR manual of arms paired with the grunt of 7.62×39, this is a genuinely compelling option.
The ARAQ-S is built to run standard AK47/AKM pattern magazines. That means the widely available mags you likely already own or can find easily will feed it. It's one of the main reasons this rifle appeals to 7.62×39 fans who want AR handling.
This is a short stroke piston operated rifle, not direct impingement. The piston system generally runs cleaner and keeps gas and fouling away from the bolt carrier group. It's a big part of why the ARAQ-S has a reputation for dependable cycling.
Yes, this configuration comes with a multi-position collapsible polymer stock. That lets you adjust length of pull to fit your build, your gear, or different shooters. It makes the rifle comfortable whether you're bulked up in a jacket or running light.
The receiver includes a Picatinny rail up top, so mounting a red dot, LPVO, or iron sights is straightforward. The free-float M-LOK handguard also gives you plenty of room for lights, grips, and other accessories. You've got solid flexibility to set it up the way you like.
