The MK23 generation represents a significant refinement of the platform, and the MATCH CO variant takes things a step further with features specifically aimed at getting the most out of every shot.
The headline feature of the X-Calibur line is Grand Power's patented rotating barrel action. Instead of the conventional Browning-style tilting barrel that every other service pistol on the market uses, the barrel rotates during the firing cycle to unlock from the slide. The result is a straight-rearward recoil impulse with no barrel movement off the axis of the bore, which translates to a noticeably smoother, flatter-shooting feel that plenty of experienced shooters have compared to firing a heavier all-metal pistol. That smoothness makes fast, accurate follow-up shots significantly easier to manage.
What separates the MATCH variant from the standard X-Calibur CO is the all-steel dust cover. It extends from Grand Power's billet stainless internal chassis and adds meaningful non-reciprocating weight to the front of the gun, further taming muzzle rise during rapid strings of fire. The slide is aggressively lightening-cut and serrated, with a dedicated optic cut machined in. From the factory you get a red fiber optic front sight paired with a fully adjustable rear, plus four optic mounting plates covering Vortex/Docter Noblex, Trijicon RMR, CMORE STS2, and Shield SMS footprints. Whether you want to run irons or mount a dot, you are covered without ordering anything extra.
The trigger is SA/DA with a crisp single-action break that reviewers consistently praise for its predictability and short reset. This keeps the barrel's movement in line with the bore axis rather than dropping away, which produces a straighter-back recoil impulse and a noticeably smoother shooting feel.
