The Stribog earned its reputation as one of the best values in the pistol caliber carbine world, and the SP9A1 in this 16 inch configuration takes that same rugged Slovak design and stretches it into a proper carbine. The receiver is machined from hard anodized aluminum, the operating system is a simple direct blowback that runs on just about anything you feed it, and the trigger is a Mil-Spec AR-style unit, so upgrading it later is as easy as swapping parts you already know.
A 9mm carbine is one of the most practical guns you can own. Ammo is cheap, recoil is soft, and the longer sight radius makes hitting steel at 100 yards feel almost unfair. The SP9A1 sweetens the deal with a side-folding stock, so a full-size carbine folds down compact enough to slide into a backpack or small case. Pop it open, shoulder it, and you are back in business in about a second. The 16 inch barrel comes threaded 1/2×28 with a protector installed, so adding a suppressor or muzzle device takes no gunsmithing at all.
A full-length Picatinny rail runs across the top for red dots, magnifiers, or a low power variable, and there are iron sights included so you can shoot it the day it comes home. The M-LOK handguard gives you real estate for lights, lasers, or a hand stop, and the bolt release and thumb safety are ambidextrous, which lefties will appreciate more than they usually admit. Grand Power also throws in three 30-round magazines, which is two more than most manufacturers bother with these days.
This is the kind of gun that turns a casual range trip into a whole afternoon. It is soft shooting, fun to run fast, and simple to maintain since field stripping requires no special tools. Whether you want a plinker, a PCC match gun, or a compact truck-friendly carbine, the SP9A1 covers a lot of ground for the money.
Yes. The barrel comes threaded in the common 1/2×28 pattern with a thread protector installed from the factory. Just spin the protector off and mount your 9mm can or muzzle device of choice, no gunsmithing needed.
The SP9A1 uses a straightforward direct blowback operating system, which is simple, rugged, and easy to maintain. The SP9A3 uses Grand Power's roller-delayed system instead. Both run the same magazines and share the same overall layout, so accessories largely cross over between them.
You can. The SP9A1 uses a Mil-Spec AR-style trigger group, so most drop-in and standard AR trigger upgrades will work. That makes it one of the easier pistol caliber carbines to tune to your liking.
Grand Power includes three 30-round magazines with this model, which is a generous setup compared to most carbines that ship with one or two. They are Grand Power's proprietary Stribog 9mm magazines, and spares are widely available if you want to stock up for match days.
