Description
When you run a red dot on a compact Glock, backup irons are the insurance policy that keeps you in the fight if the electronics ever quit. Forward Controls Design built the BIS, 43X/48 set for exactly that job. It's a collaboration with Ameriglo, based on the well-regarded GL-527 sight, then refined with FCD's own touches for duty and everyday carry use.
What Sets the FCD BIS 43X/48 Apart
This is the no-tritium version, so you get a serrated front sight with no tritium lamp or white outline, paired with a serrated rear. The blacked-out setup keeps your eye pulling straight to the front post without competing dots or glowing distractions. The sights measure a 0.450 inch front height and a 0.554 inch rear height, which puts them at a lower 1/3 co-witness with the Trijicon RMRcc when the pistol wears an FCD OPF optics plate. That means your irons sit in the bottom third of the dot window, ready as a reference or a full backup.
Built to Ride in a Holster
FCD reshaped the front sight so the back strap angle sits steeper at 25 degrees on this serrated model, and they softened the top corners. The point of all that is to keep the sight from snagging on clothing or a holster mouth when you're drawing under stress. The rear is contoured in the same spirit, giving you a clean, carry-friendly profile that won't hang up when it matters.
Fit and Compatibility
These are made specifically for the Glock G43X and G48 slim-frame pistols. Beyond the RMRcc, the set also plays well with the OPF-G and the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, though the sights sit quite low in the DPP window. Everything is designed and machined in the USA. Rear sight install can take a little fitting to the dovetail, so a sight pusher and some patience go a long way, or hand it to a gunsmith who knows Glocks and let them dial it in.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will these BIS 43X/48 sights co-witness with my red dot?
Yes. With a front height of 0.450 inches and a rear of 0.554 inches, this set gives you a lower 1/3 co-witness with the Trijicon RMRcc when your slide wears an FCD OPF optics plate. That puts the irons in the bottom third of the dot window so they're there as backup without crowding your dot. They also work with the OPF-G and the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, though they sit low in the DPP window.
What's the difference between this no-tritium version and the tritium option?
This model has a serrated front sight with no tritium lamp and no white outline, giving you a fully blacked-out sight picture. The tritium version instead uses a non-serrated front with a green tritium lamp and white outline. Both share the same serrated rear and the same snag-reducing design philosophy.
Are these hard to install on a Glock 43X or 48?
The front sight is straightforward, but the rear often needs a little fitting to the dovetail, which is normal for quality steel sights. If you have a sight pusher and know your way around a Glock, you can handle it at home. If not, a competent gunsmith can fit and zero them without much trouble.
Why the reshaped front sight on the FCD BIS 43X/48?
Forward Controls Design gave the serrated front a steeper 25 degree back strap angle and softened the top corners. The idea is to keep the sight from catching on clothing or the holster when you draw. It's a small change that makes a real difference for concealed carry and duty use.
