GLFA SUB-1 .308 Win Bolt Action Rifle 18in Fluted Barrel Carbon Fiber

Description

Great Lakes Firearms named this rifle the SUB-1 for a reason, and it wasn't modesty. The whole build centers on accuracy, starting with an 18 inch fluted barrel machined from 416R stainless, the same grade of steel you'll find in high end match barrels. Chambered in .308 Win, it feeds from a 5 round detachable magazine and wears a black Cerakote finish that shrugs off weather and scuffs a lot better than traditional bluing. GLFA is a family owned shop out of Sparta, Michigan, and they back their rifles with a lifetime warranty, which says plenty about how they feel about their work.

Why the SUB-1's Carbon Fiber Stock Earns Its Keep

The long strand carbon fiber stock is where this rifle separates itself from the sea of injection molded plastic in this class. Carbon fiber keeps the weight down for long walks into the timber while staying stiffer than a standard synthetic stock, which helps consistency shot to shot. Pair that with the fluting on the barrel, which sheds ounces and adds surface area for faster cooling, and you get a rig that's comfortable to carry all day but steady when it counts.

Set Up the GLFA SUB-1 Your Way

The muzzle comes threaded 5/8×24 with a brake installed, so taming .308 recoil is handled right out of the box, and swapping to a suppressor is as easy as spinning off the brake. The trigger is adjustable, letting you dial in a pull weight that suits your style instead of living with whatever left the factory. A manual safety keeps things simple and familiar. Between the handy 18 inch barrel, the light stiff stock, and the flexibility at the muzzle, this is a legitimate do it all bolt gun for deer camp, the range, or a truck rifle that still prints tight groups.
