Press the lever on the right side of the frame and the rear of the barrel pivots upward, exposing the chamber. Drop a round in, push the barrel back down until it clicks, insert the magazine, and you are ready to go. You never have to rack the slide, though you still can if you want to.
That is exactly who this pistol was designed for. Since the tip-up barrel lets you chamber a round without pulling back the slide, it removes the biggest physical hurdle most people face with semi-autos. The double-action trigger is smooth as well, and the .380 chambering keeps recoil manageable.
The fixed-barrel blowback action feeds reliably with a wide range of standard-pressure .380 ACP loads, including common FMJ range ammo and jacketed hollow points from major brands. It is best to stick with standard-pressure ammunition rather than the hottest loads on the market, since blowback pistols do not need extra-spicy ammo to run well.
It ships with one 13-round double-stack magazine, giving you 13+1 total capacity, which is generous for a .380 in this style. Spare magazines are sold separately through EAA and most dealers that carry the Girsan line.
