Commemorative pistols come and go, but this one earns a spot in the safe on looks alone. The Girsan MC1911 USA 250th Anniversary celebrates 250 years of American independence with a polished chrome finish over a forged steel slide and frame, gold PVD accented controls, and pearl-style grips engraved with an eagle and flag motif inspired by the Great Seal. It is a full-size Government pattern 1911 chambered in .45 ACP, which feels exactly right for a piece built around American heritage. Few platforms say America quite like John Browning's original.
Here is the part that separates this from the average safe queen: Girsan built it to run. The 5 inch barrel and single-action trigger give you the crisp pull and inherent accuracy the 1911 is famous for, and the adjustable rear sight lets you dial your point of impact to whatever load you feed it, from 230 grain ball to lighter defensive rounds. Front and rear slide serrations make press checks and racking easy even with the slick chrome finish, and the extended beavertail keeps your hand high and protected through recoil. An ambidextrous thumb safety and skeletonized 3-hole trigger round out the modern touches, and there is even an accessory rail if you want to hang a light on it.
Girsan has quietly built a reputation for making 1911s that punch well above their price point, and this special edition takes that proven MC1911 platform and dresses it up for a milestone that only comes around once. Limited runs like this tend to disappear fast, especially with 2026 being the anniversary year itself. Whether you plan to display it, shoot it, or pass it down, the 8+1 capacity of .45 ACP and the eye-catching chrome and gold treatment make it one of the more memorable ways to mark the occasion. Grab a box of hardball, take it out for its first range day, and you will see the appeal goes past the engraving.
It is built on Girsan's proven MC1911 platform, so it is fully range ready. The 5 inch barrel, single-action trigger, adjustable rear sight, and extended beavertail are all working features, not decoration. Plenty of buyers pick this one up planning to shoot it and display it.
Yes. This is a Government-size 1911 pattern pistol in .45 ACP, so most quality single-stack 1911 magazines will run in it. Keep in mind it has an accessory rail on the frame, so choose a holster made for railed full-size 1911s.
The core pistol is the same reliable MC1911S, but this version wears a polished chrome finish over the slide and frame, gold PVD accented controls, and pearl-style grips engraved with an eagle and flag design commemorating 250 years of American independence. It is a limited edition tied to the 2026 semiquincentennial, so it carries collector appeal a standard model does not.
Softer than most people expect. At 37 ounces of forged steel, this pistol soaks up a lot of the .45 ACP push, and the low bore axis of the 1911 design keeps muzzle rise manageable. The extended beavertail also helps you get a high, comfortable grip that makes follow-up shots quicker.
