The 1911 platform has been around for well over a century, and for good reason. Girsan, a Turkish manufacturer with a reputation for serious quality control, builds the MC1911 line in one of the more advanced small arms facilities in the world, with EAA Corp. handling the import side stateside. This full-size Government-model variant in MPN 391091 stands out immediately thanks to its multi-color PVD coating, which produces that iridescent rainbow effect across both the steel slide and frame. It is a real conversation starter at the range, and the PVD process is a proper hardening treatment, not just a paint job.
Under the finish, the bones are solid. The 5-inch stainless bull barrel does away with the traditional bushing in favor of a tighter barrel-to-slide fit, which can improve lockup consistency shot to shot. The all-steel construction of the frame and slide adds meaningful weight that helps soak up .45 ACP recoil and gives the gun that planted, steady feel that makes Government-size 1911s so pleasant to shoot accurately. The extended beavertail grip safety protects the web of your hand and helps maintain a high, consistent grip, and the black textured grips with integrated magwell add positive control and easier reloads.
Sights consist of a fixed front and an adjustable rear, which is a genuinely useful combination on a range or target pistol. Being able to dial in your point of impact rather than swapping out fixed sights is a real practical advantage. The ambidextrous thumb safety makes the gun comfortable for left-handed shooters as well. Controls throughout follow the classic 1911 single-action layout, so if you have ever run any 1911 before, this one will feel immediately familiar.
This model ships with one 8-round magazine, and since it follows the standard .45 ACP 1911 magazine format, quality aftermarket options from brands like Mec-Gar, Wilson Combat, or Chip McCormick are widely available and easy to source. It is a good pick for range work, target shooting, or anyone who wants a full-size .45 that is a little more visually distinct than the average blued or matte black pistol.
A bull barrel is thicker-walled and fits directly into the slide without a traditional barrel bushing. This creates a tighter, more consistent lockup between the barrel and slide on every cycle, which can contribute to improved shot-to-shot accuracy. It also simplifies the design slightly, since there is one fewer part to deal with during disassembly and maintenance.
PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) is an actual hardening and surface treatment process, not just a decorative coating applied on top. It bonds at the molecular level, providing real corrosion resistance and wear resistance. The rainbow effect is a byproduct of how the coating is applied across the spectrum, so you get both a protective finish and a genuinely distinctive look.
This model uses a standard-format .45 ACP single-stack 1911 magazine, and quality aftermarket options from manufacturers like Mec-Gar, Wilson Combat, and Chip McCormick have been reported to work well. The included magazine is an 8-rounder, and most standard Government-size 1911 .45 ACP mags will seat and feed reliably. If you run into any feeding quirks early on, swapping to a premium aftermarket mag is usually the first and easiest fix.
This pistol is a solid option for anyone who appreciates the classic 1911 feel and wants a full-size .45 ACP for range sessions, target shooting, or home defense. The all-steel Government-size frame makes it noticeably heavier than a compact or polymer pistol, so it is less ideal for everyday concealed carry, but that same weight works in your favor when it comes to managing recoil and shooting comfortably for extended range sessions. The adjustable rear sight also makes it particularly practical for target work.
Based on verified specs for this specific MPN 391091 model, a Picatinny accessory rail is not listed as a feature. EAA does offer other MC1911 variants with an integrated accessory rail on the dustcover, so if rail compatibility is important to you, it is worth confirming before purchasing.
The MC1911 line is manufactured by Girsan in Giresun, Turkey, in a modern purpose-built firearms facility. European American Armory (EAA Corp.), based in Cocoa, Florida, handles the import and distribution in the United States and backs the firearm with their warranty program.
