Description
Not everybody wants to rip off a factory handguard and swap in a full quad rail just to hang one light or a bipod off the bottom of their rifle. That's exactly the gap the GG&G UFIR fills. It's an Under Foregrip Integrated Rail that mounts to the six o'clock position of a standard two-piece AR-15 or M16 handguard, and it does it by locking into the vent holes that are already there. No backing bushings, no nut-serts, no loose hardware rattling around in a baggie.
How the GG&G UFIR Actually Mounts
The clever part is the integral camming attachment system. You slide the rail up against the underside of the handguard, and a flat tip screwdriver is all it takes to cam the mounts into place and snug it down. Because it grabs the vent holes directly, there's no permanent alteration to the handguard and nothing to drill. When you want it off, you back the same screws out and it comes right off. Having a handguard wrench handy makes seating everything easier, but the install itself is genuinely simple.
Built Tough and Kept Light
GG&G machines the UFIR from 6061-T6 aluminum alloy and finishes it in Type III hard-coat anodizing, matte black to mil-spec, with the steel components manganese phosphated black. At just over five inches long and right around 1.9 ounces, it adds almost nothing to your setup while giving you a true MIL-STD-1913 dovetail to work with. The edges are smoothed and rounded so it isn't chewing up your support hand.
What You Can Run on It
This is a great pick if you're running an M4-style or rifle-length handguard with round vent holes and want a clean, low-profile mounting point. It's compatible with two-piece AR-15/M16 handguards, which covers a lot of popular carbines out there. Bolt on a weapon light, drop a bipod on the front for a bench session, or add a vertical grip. GG&G builds these in the USA and backs them, so you're getting a lasting piece of kit rather than a throwaway adapter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will the GG&G UFIR fit my AR-15 handguard?
It's designed for standard two-piece AR-15/M16 handguards that have vent holes, which covers most mil-spec carbine, M4-style, and rifle-length setups. The rail locks into those existing vent holes, so as long as your handguard has them, it should mount up. If you're running a solid free-float or M-LOK handguard with no vent holes, this isn't the right part for you.
Do I have to remove my handguard to install the UFIR?
No, and that's the whole point of this design. It installs into the vent holes of the lower handguard while it's still on the rifle, using a flat tip screwdriver to work the camming mounts into place. Keeping a handguard wrench nearby makes it easier to get things seated, but there's no drilling or permanent alteration involved.
What can I mount on the GG&G UFIR rail?
You get a full MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny dovetail at the six o'clock position, so it takes standard rail-mounted accessories. It's popular for weapon lights, bipods, and vertical foregrips. At just over five inches, it gives you enough real estate for one main accessory or a compact setup.
Is the UFIR durable enough for regular use?
It's machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished with Type III hard-coat anodizing to mil-spec, with the steel components phosphated for corrosion resistance. GG&G builds these in the USA and stands behind them. For a lightweight adapter that adds only about 1.9 ounces, it's a solid, no-nonsense piece of hardware.
