The GG&G QD Sling Thing for Dovetail HD solves one of the more annoying problems on a railed AR-15: where to put your front sling attachment without eating up handguard real estate or fighting a bulky mount. It clamps into the dovetail rails on your tactical forearm and gives you a quick-detach socket that lets you sling up or ditch the sling in a heartbeat. Because it's a side-mount design, you can position it exactly where it feels right for your build, whether you run a side or top swivel setup.
This is the heavy-duty version, and the upgrade lives in the swivel. The Enhanced Heavy Duty 1-1/4" QD swivel uses a larger push-button than a standard swivel, so gloved hands or cold fingers can find it and release fast. The button also has concentric tactile grooves machined into it for surer thumb placement, and the wire diameter is beefed up for a stronger sling loop that shrugs off hard use.
GG&G machines the body from tough 7075 billet aluminum and gives it a Type III hard-coat anodized matte black finish per Mil-Spec, while the steel components get a manganese phosphate coating in the same low-glare black. The whole unit weighs right around 1.7 ounces with the swivel installed, so it disappears on the gun. Edges are deburred and rounded, and the swivel socket features limited rotation to keep your sling from wrapping up on itself.
