The GG&G side saddle mounts to your Mossberg 590 receiver without any gunsmithing, using the included steel trigger pin and ejector bolts. All you need is a hex wrench and maybe some threadlocker, and you're ready to carry six shells right on the side of your gun.
That 15-degree cant isn't just for looks. The angle positions your shells perfectly whether you're loading base-up, base-down, or mixing both depending on what comes natural to you. The shells stay put using a solid rubber retention system that won't distort under heat or pressure like cheaper plastic or hollow tube designs do. Even after thousands of rounds downrange, you'll get consistent tension and reliable retention.
This thing is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and hard anodized to MilSpec standards, so it handles rough treatment at the range or field. Weighs only 5.5 ounces and stretches 6.5 inches long, so it doesn't bulk up your shotgun. The backing plate protects your receiver finish and won't leave marks. All the hardware comes included. GG&G backs it with a lifetime warranty.
This mounts on short tactical-length forearms only. If you're running a longer sporting forend, you'll need to swap it out first. Also won't work with the 590 DA or left-handed 590A1 models. Fits the standard 590, 500, and Maverick 88 platform.

No gunsmithing required. It mounts using the included steel trigger pin and ejector replacement bolts. Just remove your existing trigger pin and ejector bolt, slide the backing plate on, and install the new hardware. Takes about 10 minutes with a hex wrench. All fasteners and an instruction sheet come in the box.
Yes. The retention system holds shells whether they're loaded base-up or base-down, so you can orient your shells however works best for your reloading technique. Some folks load the front pair base-up for direct chamber feeding and the rear four base-down for mag tube loading.
The main difference is the shell retention system. GG&G uses a solid rubber retainer instead of a hollow rubber tube, which resists heat and pressure distortion over time. This keeps your shells sitting tight for years, not getting loose after a few thousand rounds. The aluminum construction is also heavier-duty, and you get a lifetime warranty.
