The GForce Arms GFY-1 solves it the bullpup way, tucking the action and magazine behind the trigger so you get a full 18.5 inch barrel in a package that measures only 28.5 inches overall. That's barely longer than some firearm-classified pump guns, except this one has a real stock, real sights, and a semi-auto action doing the work for you.
Under the hood is a gas-operated system chambered for both 2 3/4 and 3 inch 12 gauge shells. It feeds from AR-12 and MKA-1919 pattern magazines, which is a big deal for a budget bullpup because that magazine pattern has years of aftermarket support behind it, including drums if you want serious capacity on tap. This model ships with one 5-round mag, and the receiver is machined from aluminum and coated in OD Green Cerakote to match the bullpup polymer stock, with a black threaded barrel that accepts Benelli Mobil pattern chokes. A Modified choke comes installed, so you can tighten or open your patterns depending on the load you're running.
Flip-up front and rear sights come standard and fold flat when you don't need them, leaving the full-length top Picatinny rail clear for a red dot or reflex sight. There's a bottom rail up front too, which is prime real estate for a light, and any home defense shotgun deserves a light. At 7.7 pounds the GFY-1 has enough heft to soak up 12 gauge recoil, and the rubber recoil pad helps take the sting out of longer range sessions.

Yes, the full-length top Picatinny rail is made for exactly that. The included flip-up sights fold down out of the way, so a red dot or reflex optic sits clean on the rail. There's also a bottom rail for a weapon light or foregrip.
It does. The 18.5 inch barrel is threaded for Benelli Mobil pattern chokes, which are easy to find just about anywhere. A Modified choke comes installed from the factory, a good middle-of-the-road option for buckshot and general use.
