The GForce Arms GFY-1 handles both. By moving the action and magazine behind the trigger, it fits an 18.5 inch threaded barrel into an overall length of just 28.5 inches. That is only a couple inches longer than a Shockwave, except this one has an actual stock, real sights, and semi-auto follow-up shots.
This is a gas-operated 12 gauge with a 3 inch chamber, so it runs 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells. Feeding comes from detachable box magazines, and the GFY-1 accepts AR-12 and MKA-1919 pattern mags and drums, which means the aftermarket has you covered when you want more capacity than the included 5 rounder. The threaded barrel takes Benelli Mobil pattern chokes, and a Modified tube comes installed from the factory, so you have some say in how tight your patterns run.
Flip-up front and rear sights come standard and fold flat when you do not need them. The full-length top Picatinny rail is ready for a red dot or reflex sight, which is where this platform really shines for fast target work, and the bottom rail handles a light or vertical grip. This version wears a Tactical Grey Cerakote aluminum receiver paired with a matching gray polymer bullpup stock, and a rubber recoil pad on the back end takes some sting out of stout loads.

It ships with one 5-round magazine, and higher capacity sticks and drums are widely available from aftermarket makers. That gives you plenty of room to grow the setup over time.
It has a 3 inch chamber, so it handles both 2 3/4 and 3 inch 12 gauge shells. Like most gas-operated semi-auto shotguns, it tends to cycle best with quality loads in the 1 1/8 oz range or hotter, especially during break-in. Very light budget birdshot can be hit or miss in any gas gun until the action wears in.
