Geissele built the Super Modular Rail MK15 for folks running an HK416 or MR556 who want to ditch the bulky factory quad rail for something slimmer, stronger, and ready for real gear. This 14.5" version is dialed in for a matching 14.5" barrel, and instead of forcing you to wrestle with proprietary parts, it slides right onto the stock HK barrel nut. That's a big deal on these platforms, since it means a direct swap on the MR556 without touching the barrel nut at all.
Machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and finished in Type III hardcoat anodize, this rail is built to shrug off range abuse and hold up in the field. The design leans on input from military end users, and the same Super Modular Rail line has been picked up by our nation's special operations community, which tells you plenty about how it holds zero and takes a beating.
You get M-LOK slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions for lights, grips, bipods, and pressure switches, plus a full-length Picatinny rail across the top with shortened Pic sections up front. That combo gives you a continuous optics and sight plane while keeping the sides and bottom clean and slim until you actually need to mount something. The slim 1.35" inner diameter profile makes it easy to get a solid grip and index against barricades.
The interface between the barrel nut and the rail is machined to roughly a thousandth of an inch of clearance, which is exactly why these rails return to zero so well. A snug fit is normal and expected. Wipe the barrel nut clean, run a light film of oil, and work it on and off a couple times to break it in. Worth knowing up front: if you're mounting this on an HK416 with sling loops on the outside of the gas block, those loops will need to come off first. MR556 uppers usually go on as a straight bolt-up.
Yes. The MK15 is designed to use the stock HK barrel nut, so on an MR556 it's typically a direct swap with no barrel nut change needed. On an HK416, you'll need to remove the sling loops on the outside of the gas block before it can slide on.
The clearance between the barrel nut and the rail is machined to about one thousandth of an inch, which is intentional and gives you excellent return-to-zero for your optics. A snug fit on install is completely normal. Wipe the barrel nut clean, add a light film of oil, and work the rail on and off a few times to seat it smoothly.
This rail is optimized for a 14.5" barrel, so it pairs cleanly with HK416 and MR556 uppers running that length. Longer coverage protects more of the barrel and gives you plenty of real estate for hand placement and accessories.
