This 15-inch free-float handguard was designed with a reduced diameter and a lower overall height, giving you a slim, comfortable grip that feels great in the hand whether you've got big mitts or you're running a more compact hold. The rail is 3D precision machined in North Wales, Pennsylvania from 7000 series aluminum, which is a step up in strength over the more common 6061 you'll find on budget rails, all while keeping the weight down. Bare, it comes in at around 11.6 ounces, or roughly 13 ounces once you factor in the barrel nut. The whole thing wears a Type III hardcoat anodized finish in Geissele's signature Desert Dirt Color (DDC), a golden sand tone that varies slightly from part to part and gives your build that distinct, battle-ready look.
Accessory mounting is handled through Magpul's M-LOK system at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, so lights, bipods, hand stops, and QD sling points all bolt up clean. A full-length Picatinny top rail runs the length of the handguard for optics, backup sights, and night vision setups. The rail includes Geissele's updated barrel nut, but the barrel nut wrench is sold separately. If this is your first Geissele rail, you'll want to grab the wrench (part 02-243) to install it correctly. A standard armorer's wrench can round out the barrel nut holes, so the dedicated tool is worth having.
It's designed to work with Mil-Spec M4 upper receivers, which covers most forged AR-15 uppers. The anti-rotation tabs are on the narrow side, so billet uppers may not clear them and compatibility there is not guaranteed. It fits AR-15 platforms only and is not made for AR-10 or DPMS-pattern rifles.
No, the MK14 does not include a gas block or gas tube, so you'll need to run a low-profile gas block that fits under the rail. The inner diameter is on the slimmer side, so verify your gas block clears before ordering. Most standard low-profile blocks work fine.
Geissele's Desert Dirt Color is a hardcoat anodized finish, and shade variation from part to part is completely normal. Most pieces land in a golden sand tone, but you may see browns or hints of green depending on the batch. Don't expect a perfect match to other DDC components, since that variation is part of the finish's character.
