The Geissele Super Modular Rail MK16 is one of the most proven handguards you can bolt onto an AR-15, and the 10.5-inch version is the go-to length for pistol builds, SBRs, and anything running a shorter barrel. It's a free-float design machined from 7000-series aluminum, which gives Geissele the strength to make the rail slimmer and lighter than the older MK14 without losing rigidity. This one wears the Desert Dirt Color finish over a Type III hardcoat anodize, so it holds up to abuse and blends into earth-tone builds.
The headline feature is how it locks up. The MK16 mounts using the updated Geissele barrel nut, which runs longer than a standard nut for more contact with the receiver and a stiffer, more repeatable connection. Pair that with the anti-rotation tabs and set screws, and the rail simply will not twist or shift under hard use, which keeps a mounted laser or optic holding its zero through temperature swings and long strings of fire. Up top you get a continuous M1913 Picatinny section, and there are M-LOK slots on every quadrant for lights, lasers, grips, sling points, and bipods wherever you want them.
This isn't a rail that just looks the part. The MK16 is the design USASOC selected for the URG-I program, so the engineering has been vetted well beyond the range. The 10.5-inch length keeps the whole package short and quick-handling, which is exactly what you want on a compact CQB-style setup where every inch of maneuverability matters.
The MK16 is built to work with Mil-Spec forged M4 upper receivers, which covers the vast majority of AR-15 uppers out there. Since the rail uses Geissele's proprietary barrel nut, installation calls for the Geissele barrel nut wrench, which is sold separately. It's worth double-checking your barrel profile and gas block clearance before you build so everything drops in clean.
The MK16 ships with the updated Geissele barrel nut and the mounting hardware you need to attach it. What it does not include is the barrel nut wrench, which uses a proprietary pattern and is sold separately. If this is your first Geissele rail, plan on grabbing that wrench along with a torque wrench to get everything installed correctly.

Desert Dirt Color is a batch-dyed finish, so shade can vary from part to part, ranging anywhere from a golden desert tone to a more bronze look. This is normal for Geissele's process and intentional to help blend into desert terrain. Because of that, DDC pieces aren't meant to be an exact color match to one another.
