Geissele made its name on triggers, but the Super Modular Rail MK4 shows the same obsession with fit and finish carries over to their handguards. This 15" M-LOK version gives you a long, free-floating platform in Geissele's signature Desert Dirt Color, machined from 7000-series aluminum with heavy venting to keep weight down and heat moving. You get a full-length top Picatinny rail for optics and backup irons, plus integrated M1913 Picatinny sections at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions up front where you'd want a light or laser locked in tight.
The real story here is the barrel nut. Instead of a mil-spec nut you have to time and fight, the MK4 uses Geissele's proprietary 2.25" long barrel nut that torques straight down with no timing needed. That extra surface contact between the rail and the receiver is what keeps the whole thing straight and true end to end, and it means you can pull the rail for maintenance and go back to zero without chasing your point of impact around.
Beyond the forward Picatinny segments, you've got M-LOK slots running along the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions as well as the upper 45-degree quadrants, so there's room for pretty much any combination of accessories you want to run. QD sling sockets are built in at the 3 and 9 positions for a quick, rattle-free attachment point. The inside diameter clears most low-profile gas blocks, making it a clean upgrade whether you're building fresh or swapping off an older free-floater.
Folks who've run these tend to notice the machining and tolerances right away, and installs generally go quick once the barrel nut is torqued. It's a workhorse rail that feels great in the hands and holds accessories exactly where you put them. Keep in mind the gas block is not included, and you'll want the Geissele barrel nut wrench (sold separately) to do the install right.
No, the barrel nut wrench and gas block are both sold separately. The rail ships with its own proprietary barrel nut and hardware, but you'll need the Geissele barrel nut wrench (part GEI-02-243) to install it properly. A low-profile gas block is required and not included in the box.
It's designed to fit mil-spec AR-15 upper receivers. Because it uses Geissele's own barrel nut rather than a mil-spec one, you'll remove and discard your factory barrel nut during install. It also clears most low-profile gas blocks, so if your rifle still has an A2 front sight base you'll need to swap that out first.
The 2.25" long barrel nut increases surface contact between the rail and the receiver, which keeps the free-float rail straight and true its full length. It torques down without any timing hassle, and that extra rigidity helps hold a repeatable zero even after you pull the rail for cleaning or maintenance.
