The GBRS Group Second Best Sling, or SBS as most folks call it, is what happens when experienced end users get tired of bulky slings that snag on kit and hang like an anchor around the neck. GBRS pulled out the big metal hardware that most slings rely on and got the weight down to a featherlight 2.7 ounces. It comes finished in MultiCam and built right here in the USA. Despite the name, plenty of people who own one will tell you it earns the top spot in their sling rotation.
The whole idea here is customization without extra bulk. The forward lead gives you a full 40 inches of travel running through a single Tri-Glide and pull tab, and the 20 inch tail runs through its own Tri-Glide so you can dial the overall length to your body. Both ends can be trimmed down, so once you get the fit right there's no excess webbing flapping around. The slider itself is worth mentioning, it stays put when you leave it alone but glides easily when you need to extend to swim out of the sling or cinch down to go hands-free.
The 16 inch neck pad uses closed-cell crosslink padding wrapped in a four-way stretch Tweave cover. That combination keeps pressure off the back of your neck during long days and lets the sling slide smoothly across your neck or the back of your kit instead of grabbing on gear. The pad tapers at both ends to knock out snag points, which is a big deal when you're slinging a carbine to your back. The 4 inch pull tab has two center bar tacks that pop out if you'd rather run a thumb loop.
